In the book, two main heroes stand out: the famous Russian poet Nikolay Gumilyov and his biographer, the writer Pavel Luknitsky. They never met, but it did not stop Luknitsky in the 1920s from enthusiastically and thoroughly collecting everything related to Gumilyov’s life and work. When the poet’s name was placed under a ban in our country, he, at great risk, preserved an invaluable archive.
Luknitsky did not live to see his work published. His widow presents a documentary narrative based on materials from this huge archive, as well as documents recently discovered and transcribed by their son regarding the investigation of the Gumilyov case.
