The audiobook includes a radio play based on A. Blok’s lyrical drama of the same name, “The Unknown Woman” (The Stranger), and on the poem “The Twelve.”
It was from a sense of the inevitable catastrophe, from ominous signs of one’s own imminent death, that the poem “The Twelve” was born—a work devoted entirely and completely to the fates of Russia. Blok worked on the poem for three weeks, but he wrote it in two days—as if in a fit of inspiration from some higher powers.
