In her book “Not-For-Kids Fairy Tales…”, Ulyana Nizhinskaya tells about the heroes and symbols of magical fairy tales that we’ve known since childhood. She explores the history of folklore texts—their roots go deep into antiquity. Their meanings seem obvious, but are there subtexts? In the book, the author discusses the silence of the dead princess and seven knights, the geese-swans, the deeds of Baba Yaga, Koshchei the Immortal, and other heroes. She also reveals the theme of relationships between a man and a woman in ancient fairy tales, the origins of the girl-warriors, and much more that we weren’t told in childhood.
