Every girl believes in the Beautiful Prince. Then they grow up and learn that princes exist only in fairy tales. But Vasylisa—whom cruel classmates teased as “the Perina”—knew for sure that princes exist. At least her Prince would be waiting for her and would surely come, because he promised that when she grew up, he would find her and marry her. This Prince didn’t have a white horse, a white cloak, and other attributes of a fairy-tale hero. But the boy in a sports T-shirt was so charming and spoke so confidently that Vasylisa believed him.
Years went by. Her girlfriends got married, had children, fell in love and broke up, while Vasylisa simply lived calmly, never doubting that each day she lived was a step toward him.
