Anyone who has ever been in the Sector strives to penetrate its heart — the Depth. They say that some of those who made it there returned changed, while most vanished without a trace. They also say that it is there that the key to the mystery of the Sector can be found.

Danila Astrakhan undertakes a mission — to penetrate the Depth — and receives the key to it. Now Danila faces ninety kilometers of road: through distortions, through dead cities inhabited only by ghosts of the past and mutants, through accursed lands populated by the spawn of the Sector. And a group of experienced mercenaries has already been sent to intercept the expedition, commanded by Danila’s old enemy, stubborn and ruthless.
