Description
An autobiographical prose work about life at the edge of the world, where ordinary days turn into poetry.

The audiobook is narrated by Viktoriya Malakhova (Kim) — a journalist, author of the Telegram channel “Vitok,” and co-founder of the cultural project “Po slogam.”

Li Juan (born 1979) is a vivid, “untamed” voice of contemporary Chinese literature.

“My Altai” is a collection of autobiographical stories and essays created in 2002–2009. These texts preserve fragments of life in the village of Akhala, in the settlements of Kautu and Qiaotou, and on the summer pastures of Sainhan-bulak—where the author’s childhood and youth took place. With a delicate lyricism, Li Juan tells of the challenging rural everyday life: working in a shop, riding a motorcycle across the Gobi Desert, washing in a mountain river, gathering and selling muer (wood) mushrooms, and the conversations and neighborly coexistence with Kazakhs. Her prose is simple and transparent, attentive to small details and precise in its intonation: through the personal and the daily, it conveys the very breath of life in a far-flung corner of the world. In 2024, a TV series of the same name was released based on the book.
