The extraordinary journey to Irkutsk, created by the imagination of the French novelist, turned out to be so captivating that in France a fashion for everything Russian emerged—several generations read this book. The novel “Michel Strogoff. De Moscou a Irkoutsk” was written by J. Verne in 1876 and was adapted for film many times.
