“The Bourgeois Gentleman” is a sparkling comedy by the French literature classic Jean-Baptiste Molière.
A wealthy bourgeois, Monsieur Jourdain, is obsessed with the idea of becoming an aristocrat. Tailors, barbers, teachers—each and every one promises, through their “arts,” to make him a brilliant gentleman. Chasing a noble title, the simple-minded and narrow-minded bourgeois keeps landing in ridiculous situations, and the people around him never miss a chance to take advantage of the hero’s gullibility for their own selfish purposes.
