In 1941, the village of Lokot, under the boot of German occupiers, becomes the stage for tragic events. The former director of a technical school—a respected man in the past—makes a fateful choice and switches sides to serve the enemy, taking the position of burgomaster. He hopes to set the village’s life in order, but instead he is drawn into a bloody struggle with the partisan movement, gaining strength in the surrounding forests. His daughter, returning home, ends up in a partisan camp where she learns the bitter truth about her own father. Day by day, the confrontation between the burgomaster and the partisans grows even more fierce. Lokot plunges into the depths of fear and betrayal, where loyalty must be proven with blood.
