Studying the impact of stress on the body is one of the most complex challenges in modern medicine. The term «stress» was introduced almost 100 years ago, and since then—especially in recent decades—scientists and doctors have actively been researching this phenomenon. They strive to understand its manifestations and the reasons why it is not possible to control stress as easily as, for example, changing one’s diet. How can you tell when the stress level becomes excessive and requires intervention? This is what, along with ways to minimize stress’s negative effects on the body, the renowned cardiologist Yaroslav Ashikhmin will discuss.
During the lecture, the following questions will be addressed: why stress causes an increase in blood pressure; why some people experience drowsiness under stress while others feel like eating a snack; how to properly prepare for the consequences of stress if it can’t be avoided; whether there are medications for combating stress; and which methods help ease stress and improve well-being. Stress arises when our adaptive abilities can’t handle new, complex conditions. More than 70% of people worldwide have experienced serious stressful situations at least once. Although scientific attention to this condition is relatively recent, supported by modern research, we will discuss how to manage stress—Yaroslav Ashikhmin claims.
