The Bookshop

If you think a bookstore can be compared to a sleepy kingdom, you’re deeply mistaken. In truth, life in “The Bookshop” is in full swing. The store manager, a charming Italian Dante, hides a terrible secret from his authoritarian mother. The salesman Sebastian, in his eagerness to get everything from life, goes too far. The intellectual Aldous, whose eccentricity is not popular with the fair sex, turns out to be a “dark horse.” Behind the modest appearance of a grumpy old man hides a delicate romantic nature—of a knight in love. The unstable psyche of the cashier Mina is only half the problem; her husband is, quite literally, armed and extremely dangerous.

The narrator—Dante’s assistant—dreams of a completely different life, but is afraid to change anything.

However, after a fateful meeting with an unusual customer, it becomes clear: change is unavoidable.

The events unfold so quickly that the workers at “The Bookshop” barely keep up. And on top of that, the store turns out to be on the brink of closing. Who will win—modest “The Bookshop,” or a giant international corporation that swallows everything in its path? And will the characters manage to realize their dreams?
