The books of the contemporary prose writer Andrei Bitov are widely known in Russia and in many countries around the world. A special place in the writer's work is occupied by the “Caucasian theme.”
At one time, the novella "Lessons of Armenia" became a kind of sensation for Russian and Armenian readers. Traveling through Armenia, Andrei Bitov essentially rediscovered Armenia for himself and for Russia, with its complex and tragic history. No less significant was the novella "Georgian Album."
Perhaps for the first time in the 20th century, a person of another culture truly understood and loved the Caucasus, respectfully acknowledging the cultures and customs of the Caucasian peoples, the complex interweaving of their destinies, as well as the inseparability of the fate of the Caucasus and Russia.
"Lessons of Armenia" and "Georgian Album" were translated into almost all the languages of the world.
