Description
The story is about the ship “Cutty Sark,” the most famous and the only sailing ship preserved to this day—the best clipper of the nineteenth century, sailing the Indian Ocean.

The first version of this story was published in 1944. After its translation was published in the UK, English readers reported many new facts about the fate of the sailing ship. In 1952, an organization for preserving “Cutty Sark” was established in England. With the money collected, the ship was restored and placed at a dry dock.

In 1957, a fully revised version of the story by Ivan Efremov—with an attempt to lay out the stages of the true history of “Cutty Sark”—was published in the almanac “The World of Adventures.”
