Description
For many centuries, a mysterious deck of cards has interfered in people’s fates. According to legend, it was a vessel of the power of the great wise man Hermes Trismegistus. Through magical cards, the spirit(s) of the wise man and his faithful servants appealed to justice: they protected virtue and punished sinners.
Thousands of years later, an amateur detective, Nadezhda Lebedeva, investigating a series of murders sweeping across St. Petersburg, discovers that the victims seem to correspond to the ranks and suits of the playing cards. Could it be that the merciless criminal and his victims are connected to the incomprehensible magic of this ancient deck? The King, the Queen, the Jack… Are people playing cards—or are the cards playing people? That is what Ms. Lebedeva has to figure out.
