Long ago, the ladies Fate, Life, and Death created the Island and chose the Keepers who were to rule over them—granting magic to the chosen and depriving it from the unworthy. But people betrayed the Keepers and seized power. According to legends, the rulers’ souls turned into precious stones—findable only by the worthy.
