Even before the era of humanity’s cosmic expansion, on Earth people refused to develop intelligent machines further, opting instead for a simple imitation of intelligence sufficient to handle practical tasks. But centuries later, on the distant planet Shatrang, the question of creating genuine machine intelligence arises again. The accident looks inexplicable and casts doubt on the project’s future.
