The 1940s. In a Siberian city lives Arseniy Viktorovich Kurganov—lonely and reserved. He writes a book about the circumnavigation voyage of Krusenstern and Lisyansky. Fate brings him together with fourth-grader Tolyik Nechayev, and they find each other interesting. And Kurganov also has an old shipboard chronometer that must be wound carefully and gently—and always at exactly the same time, at eight o’clock in the morning.
