Aleksey Kuznetsov’s book tells about 30 famous court cases that took place over the centuries. In them, people searched for truth and justice, but they didn’t always find it. The author presents examples where evil remained punished, good was not heard, and sometimes even the accusations turned out to be false. The book covers trials of famous figures such as the historian Kremutius Cordus, Jacques Le Gree, Gustave Flaubert, as well as the legendary trial of an old woman accused of stealing a teapot—which, according to the prosecution, "threatened the existence" of the Russian Empire.
