The White Horse's Move

A gentle and generous blue sky of Lake Baikal. It was only its protection and support that the noble Buryat merchant Chagdar Bulatov hoped for when, in 1923, he fled with his family across the boundless steppe. That is why he named his younger grandson—who was to be born amid blooming meadow grasses—Jimbajamsa, “the Ocean of Generosity.”

From Chagdar’s former prosperity, only one thing remained: Sagaalshan—a mare that he presented to the young Buryat-Mongolian Republic. From this gift, the story begins—one stretched across seven decades. The devastation of civil war in the aftermath of the war, the losses of the Fatherland War—and the difficult labor of rebuilding. Everyday trials—and mutual help, human kindness that helps them survive.

In the whirl of history, Bulatov’s children and grandchildren will preserve the memory of an ancient lineage, remain faithful to their native land, firmly follow Chagdar’s teachings, and strive for the most important thing: to keep the family together.
