Description
We present to you the historical novel by the famous English writer Walter Scott, “The Earl of Robert of Paris” (1831). The story takes place in Constantinople in the late 11th century, during the preparations for the First Crusade (1095–1099). At the center of the plot are the relationships between different crusader forces and the Byzantine emperor Alexios I Komnenos. The writer vividly recreates the color of the Middle Ages—customs, manners, and traditions of that distant time.
