“City Without War” is teen science fiction written in the genre of post-apocalypse. We are presented with an alternative world that resembles our own, but without mass media. There is no television and no internet. The nameless city where the main character, the teenager Sasha, has lived for a long time is already fighting a neighboring city, Ensk, at war. By coincidence, Sasha is accused of treason, and he finds shelter among mercenaries. The hero can’t shake a legend: far to the south there is a city where people don’t fight each other—they live in peace. The dream of that city stands in contrast to reality: hatred, looting, and the urge to survive at any cost. The everyday life of the mercenary squad is shown through the eyes of a teenager searching for his ideals.
