In this detective story, mysterious murders intertwine with biblical tales and legends from Eastern Europe.
Michael Barkley, the famous author, met a terrible death: his body was slashed with a knife, then they cut off his head and placed it on a silver platter. At the same time, the Hollywood actress Sharon Moore disappears. In her house they find a bloody inscription that says "Help!" and a note in a notebook: "If this continues, a monster will kidnap and kill me." Witnesses describe the strange child abductor as "a bald monster with a bloodied face." Interestingly, similar abductions and the creature are described in Barkley’s latest novel—written shortly before his death.
Meanwhile, on another continent, the film "Salome" is being shot in the Dead Sea—based on a biblical story about a princess who demands John the Baptist’s head on a silver platter. The missing Sharon Moore was supposed to play the lead role in this film. Everything happening in Hollywood clearly has a connection to these events on the set—but how exactly? Only a brilliant Japanese detective, Kiyoshi Mitarai, can figure it out. He is a friend of actress Leona Matsuzaki, who now replaces Sharon Moore as Salome.
Leona Matsuzaki reflects: "What I’ve become matches my childhood dreams completely, but my current fears are also from childhood. These images come to me in my dreams, and I’m sure they’ll come alive in real life—just as it used to. They’re very clear, and I can feel which of them will become real.
