And all the space of the narrative, drenched in this ambiguous moonlight, flares up again and again with sparks of different strength and hue; slowly growing brighter, they finally merge into a sacrificial bonfire that scorches the ghostly earthly essence of the novel’s heroes and carries them into the imperishable world of the otherworldly.
