Miss Marple still cannot sit quietly in her cozy home in the village of St. Mary Mead. This time she has decided to take a hand in the fate of her old friend Carrie Louise. The thing is that, according to the firm conviction of their mutual acquaintance Ruth van Rydock, the poor woman is in danger of being poisoned. There is no evidence, but Mrs. van Rydock is convinced the threat is real. Upon arriving at the home of Carrie Louise and her husband, Miss Marple found their numerous relatives there, whose relationships are far from simple. The lady detective had barely settled in at her new lodgings when she witnessed a crime — one of the family members was shot under the most mysterious circumstances. Thus Miss Marple will have to investigate two cases simultaneously — a murder and a possible poisoning — and at first glance there appears to be no connection between them…
