Flatland

The first Russian-language edition of this novel was released in the well-known popular science series from the publisher "Mir." The book tells about the inhabitants of Flatland, where social status depends on the number of angles. The main character, a Square, sees strange dreams about other realities and finds himself in a one-dimensional world, where he tries to explain the existence of the second dimension to creatures unable to see beyond a straight line. He also experiences the visit of a mysterious Sphere from the three-dimensional world, which once every thousand years attempts to reveal to the people of Flatland the existence of Space.
