The Two-Penny Bar

This story begins in prison, where Megrè has one last conversation with the murderer he captured, Jean Lenoir. In the prison cell, the commissioner learns about another crime and about the person Lenoir once blackmailed. An old case won’t let Megrè rest, and as he flips through old investigation materials, he unwittingly follows a trail that leads him to the outskirts of Paris.
