A dramatic adaptation of the novel «The White Guard», which Bulgakov wrote specially for staging at the MKhAT. The events take place in 1918: the German units that had occupied Ukraine leave Kyiv, and power in the city passes to the Petliurites. At the center of the story is the Turbin family, representatives of the Russian intelligentsia.
The author shows the complex, multi-layered way of life of the Turbins and their close circle. This familiar world collapses under the pressure of a series of social, political, and military upheavals—one after another changing the face of their native country.
