Aby House agrees to seasonal work for the summer in the countryside of France, at Château Bellevue, hoping to start over and heal her broken heart. The old estate is literally filled with the voices of the past, and very quickly Aby is drawn into one of those stories.
In distant 1938, Éliane Marten works as a beekeeper in the gardens of Château Bellevue. There she meets Matthieu Dubosc and falls in love for the first time. The future seems bright and beautiful, but over the eastern borders of France a threat of war is already hanging in the air… War invades the lives of ordinary people, turning everything inside out. Éliane and Matthieu are forced to part, and the girl makes a dangerous decision—to join the Resistance in order to fight for the freedom of her country and for the life of the people dear to her heart. But will they be able, after surviving all the horrors of the occupation, to remain true to themselves and to each other?
