Layola tried with all her might not to give in to her feelings for him. Tayn, however, would not back down, winning the love of the woman who had become the most important thing in his life. Now they must learn whether their bond can withstand the blow from those who once managed to tear them apart.
For several weeks, Layola went without food or water, and her resolve begins to crack as hostile darkness gathers over her. She is the key: either to the destruction of the Wasteland, or to the return of its creator—long dead— the Black Magician, with whom Layola is bound by an inexplicable secret. Layola and Tayn will have to find out what it means to fight for love, when all around them are enemies, and how this battle turns into a struggle for vengeance, for the kingdom, and for the truth about why Layola seems to be endowed with power. Upon this depends whether Paleynor will fall into darkness—or whether Layola’s name, "the Bringer of Light," will prove itself.
