Vajra songs are a special genre of poetic works in Vajrayana Buddhism, arising spontaneously in great masters of tantra and created by them to convey their experience and complete realization of true nature. These are tantric songs that awaken minds to metaphysical experience, describing the state of Enlightenment and, in simple heartfelt words, pointing to the very essence of the Buddha’s teaching. Such songs use a special vocabulary and phraseology characteristic of Mahamudra and Dzogchen literature.
