The third book by Andrey Kudin in the "Bulgarian Mysteries" series. Probably the most interesting for Russian readers, because it presents the history of Bulgaria through its more than thousand-year relationship with our country. It began when the lands where the Russian ethnos was forming were not yet called either Russia or even Kievan Rus, but the shared history of two fraternal Slavic peoples already existed—and continues to this day. Over these centuries, much has happened. State formations and rulers changed, and wars followed one another in waves of peace and prosperity. For example, Russia helped the Bulgarians regain their independence by freeing them from Ottoman rule at the end of the 19th century. And already in the first quarter of the 20th century, Bulgaria took part in the fate of a neighboring country, sheltering tens of thousands of soldiers and officers of the White Guard. Yet what has remained unchanged are our main spiritual bonds—our common Orthodox faith and close languages. All of this you will learn by reading the book. The author also gathers within it many curious secrets and riddles from the lives of well-known Bulgarians and Russians, in whose fates relations between our countries left a distinct and vivid mark.
