The Flea

“The Flea” is an attempt to recreate Russian folk comedy. Like any people’s theater, it’s of course not realistic— from beginning to end it is conditional, it is play.

The thematic material for the performance was a wandering folk tale about the Tula people and the flea, and the wonderful story by N. S. Leskov “Lefty,” which is a literary adaptation of the folk tale…
