In the morning, Stepan got a call from his deputy, Chernov, who told him they’d found the body of a laborer, Murkin, at the construction site of a supermarket. A great start to the day! Stepan, head of the company “Construction Technologies,” knew he’d have to explain himself not only to the police, but also to the clients. And they are serious people. Plus there’s a dead man… And local activists are staging a protest march against the construction of a grand retail market, allegedly on a sacred site… But the police determined that Murkin died in an accident.
