The book by Alexander Davydov consists of two parts. The first is his lyrical recollections written in the form of a diary, where he tries—through thought and feeling—to grasp the history of his family. The title of this documentary novel corresponds to the actual time when it was being composed; the dates are literal. Given the almost mythological significance of the people from long ago, he labels family roles with a capital letter: Mother, Father, Grandfather, Grandmother, Nanny—without revealing names and surnames. The second part describes the space where, in distant years, the author and his loved ones lived.
